Money & Payments
in China
China is highly digital. International travelers can still manage well, but it helps to prepare cards, mobile payments and some cash before arrival.
Cards
International cards are accepted in some hotels and larger businesses, but not everywhere. Carry a backup card and notify your bank before travel.
Mobile payment
Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used. Setup rules can change, so we recommend preparing before departure and keeping a second payment method.
Cash
A small amount of RMB cash is still useful as a backup, for small vendors or in areas where foreign payment setup is inconvenient.
Private trip payments
Your trip proposal explains inclusions, payment method and timing in writing before confirmation. We keep this separate from daily spending money.
Use this as a starting point.
We avoid surprise payment pressure: travel services and payment timing should be clear before you confirm.
